Personalized ISEE Prep

The ISEE is an admissions assessment used by many independent schools. The level is based on the grade your child is applying to: Primary 2, 3, or 4; Lower Level for grades 5 and 6; Middle Level for grades 7 and 8; and Upper Level for grades 9 through 12.

These levels include Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics Achievement, and an Essay. The essay is not scored, but a copy is sent to the schools receiving your child’s score report.

Many families begin 8 to 12 weeks before the test, but the right timeline depends on your child’s level, current skills, school deadlines, and weekly availability. We begin with an assessment so practice time is focused on the areas that matter most.

The four multiple-choice sections receive scaled scores from 760 to 940, along with percentile ranks and stanines from 1 to 9. The essay is unscored. A useful goal is not one universal number; it should reflect your child’s target schools, current starting point, and overall application.

Students may take the ISEE once in each testing season, for up to three times in one school year. The seasons are fall, winter, and spring or summer, so families should plan testing dates around each school’s admission deadlines.

No. The ISEE does not deduct points for incorrect answers. Students should answer every question and learn how to eliminate choices, make an educated guess, and manage time without getting stuck.
