Place value, operations, fractions, decimals and percentages often sit underneath later lessons. It helps to identify the specific step that needs attention.

Students may need help connecting an equation to its meaning, keeping operations organized or checking whether an answer makes sense.

Diagrams, measurements and word problems ask students to translate information before calculating. Share the course and current topic so the team can discuss an appropriate tutor match.
A LEARNING EXAMPLE
For example, a student who adds 1/2 and 1/3 to get 2/5 may be treating the numerator and denominator as separate whole numbers. The useful next step is to explore equal-sized parts, then connect that idea to equivalent fractions.
A recent assignment or practice question can help explain what is happening, even when the student cannot yet put the difficulty into words.
